Come join us for our annual Amana Colonies Wurst Festival! The German tradition of making sausages is alive and well in the Colonies at the Market Barn in the village of Amana. You’ll find local sausage vendors, beer, drinks, desserts, and sides. Judges will select a “Judge’s Choice” winner, while YOU will select the people’s choice winner “First in Wurst”. Be sure to try from all the booths and vote for your favorite. We will have fun yard games, live music, and the Wurst University to round out the event.

Saturday, June 15
9am-5pm: Warped & Woven Mercantile
Find Dexter the Dachshund in the Salesroom and receive a dachshund tattoo. Check out the new cotton blankets while you shop the store.
9am-5pm: Colony Carvers
Visit a rustic gallery of chainsaw art, located in a historic Amana barn. All carvings are made onsite.
Take home a treasure that makes you smile!

Drawing to win a wood print. Local scenes.

Stop by for a freshly grilled brat or burger. Grilling will be out front (weather permitting)! Don't forget the beer!

Hard to pronounce. Harder to win. Test your strength against others in a contest of sheer will. Hold a full beer stein with your arm fully extended for the longest amount of time to win the title of champion.
Registration fee of $30 includes a contest t-shirt, a free beer ticket, and some serious bragging rights.

5:00pm: Dachshund Derby, sponsored by Bankhaus Watch as majestic local Dachshunds compete to be the “Wurst Dog” in Eastern Iowa. See their tiny little legs carry them as fast as they can to the finish line. Any and all Dachshunds are welcome to enter! Six categories by age and ability. Each winner will receive a trophy and $20 Amana Colonies gift certificate. Call

5-8pm: The Wurst Kick off Party Ever!
Start the party at the Market Barn with drinks, brats from the Amana Meat Shop, and Star Entertainment playing tunes from 5-6pm. Enjoy the first ever "Wurst Friday" competition where five British-style brass bands from the Midwest will compete by performing two marches each from 6-7:30pm. Bands will be rotating to play at two other locations as well (Festhalle, Millstream
Brewing Co.) After the last performance join all the bands in the Festhalle for the awards and camaraderie. In the event of rain, all brass band performances will occur in the Festhalle Barn.
