Staten Island's Ben Soto skate park (built in 2005) was named in memorial of a US Marine who never made it back home. It's design was popular among the city's BMX crowd until 2011 when the parks department opted not to repair the ramps and instead took them out and installed what is pretty much just a bunch of flat bars and ledges.
