Perched high upon on a 16-mile long mountain in Lonaconing, Maryland, Dans Mountain State Park is the perfect place to cool down on a hot summer day. The 481-acre park features a fully accessible swimming pool, four large group pavilions, a recycled-tire playground, and a peaceful pond for fishing. Consumption of alcohol is prohibited, except when an alcohol permit is purchased for the pavilions at time of reservation.
Swimming Pool
The Dans Mountain Swimming Pool is the perfect place to cool down on a hot summer day. This Olympic-sized swimming pool features a giant water slide! On chilly days, the pool is heated to maintain the perfect temperature. The pool is staffed by certified lifeguards and is fully accessible for persons with disabilities. A snack bar and restrooms are provided.
Pavilions
Dans Mountain has four large pavilions available by reservation from May – September. One features a large stone fireplace. Another has a panoramic view of the pond. Two pavilions are located in close proximity to the swimming pool.
Fishing Pond
The Dans Mountain Pond is a "Put-And-Take Trout Fishing Area" with no closure period. This quiet, wooded setting is ideal for teaching young anglers the sport of fishing.
The Water Station Run Pavilion is available by reservation for large gatherings by the pond.
A non-tidal fishing license is required for anglers ages 16 and up. A youth fishing rodeo is held annually, sponsored by the park's volunteer team.
