Jefferson Square is Oakland's newest dog park, located in one of Oakland's oldest parks. This historic park has been around since the early 1800s, but slowly fell into disrepair after the freeways were built in the 1960s and 1970s.
Late in 2010, the park was overhauled and rededicated, making it a focal point for the nascent neighborhood that's sprouting up nearby.
This dog park is fostering a community of neighbors that would otherwise not interact. The park also features a kids play area.
Hours: Sunrise to Sunset.
