History

McDonald's Greenhouse, Ltd. is owned and operated by James A. McDonald, a lifelong resident of Muskingum County, Ohio. He obtained a greenhouse and management production degree in 1994 from the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) located in Wooster, Ohio.

Since 1995, James has provided custom landscape and design services, tree planting and removal, and spring and fall flower bed and yard clean up. In addition, James mows several commercial and residential properties. The McDonald's Greenhouse, Ltd. Retail Shop is open each Spring for annuals, bedding plants, perennials, trees and shrubs. Since 2006, we have hosted thousands of school groups, church outings and families on our farm each fall.  We started the corn maze as a natural progression from our mum and pumpkins crops.  We are strong believers and endorsers of the agricultural community.  We love to share our lifestyle and invite others to learn how food gets from the farm to the dinner table.  We are happy to cater your group's visit based on your experience, interest area and age.

Several production greenhouses operate at the family farm on Adamsville Road (State Route 93), where James lives with his wife, Susan and their sons, Jack and Eli. All grandparents live within walking distance, along with neighbors and 4-H members who help with the daily operations whether it is planting, harvesting or retail season. Stop by, see the operations and say hello. We will be glad to give you an answer to your gardening or lawncare questions. But be careful ... you may be put to work!
