The Mitchell County Conservation Board strives to provide outdoor recreation and environmental education to people of all ages and interess. County managed areas provide opportunities for camping, hunting, fishing, boating, wildlife watching, trails for hiking and biking, as well as Nature Center.

The nature center is home to several displays of wildlife mounts, such as otter, coyote, birds of prey, wild turkey, great blue heron, pheasant and area fish, such as northern pike, bass and walleye. An aquarium of live fish, found in Mitchell County, and a live working bee hive are the newest additions.
