In 2005, a group of youth skateboarders approached the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board with a petition for a public skateboard park. After four years, several fundraisers, two grants, and a land donation, the City of Navasota has contracted with Ideal Skateparks of Austin for the design and construction of a public concrete skateboard park. This park was built for skaters, BY skaters. Every effort was made to get community, skater and stakeholder input in the design.
