Sutherland State Recreation Area is a 3,017-acre lake with 37 acres of land. The area offers quality fishing, power boating, primitive camping and a swimming beach. Sutherland Reservoir is conveniently located off Interstate-80.

Fishing
Sutherland Reservoir offers great fishing for channel catfish, freshwater drum, walleye, smallmouth bass, wipers and yellow perch. A handicap-accessible pier is available, and a fish cleaning station is located at the inlet.

Hunting
Hunting opportunities at Sutherland Reservoir include dove, pheasant and waterfowl.

Boating
All types of boats are permitted at the lake, which offers three ramps and two boat docks. Water sports of all kind are very popular.

Swimming
The area offers one unsupervised swim beach.

Picnicking
17 picnic tables and 33 grills give park visitors many opportunities to cook out or spend time together enjoying meals.
