Swansea, a once thriving mining town that is now abandoned and somewhat preserved by the US Bureau of Land Management. Just outside of Parker Arizona, this paved/desert road you take to get there feels more like North Africa or the desolate El Camino Del Diablo than the western Colorado River/Arizona low desert. If Swansea could talk the stories it would tell with the old graves, living quarters, abandoned vehicles, railroad beds, and gated off mine shafts. If you love ghost towns and sandy desert wheeling this is a great off-road trail to explore. You will likely encounter a lot of OHV traffic in this area as this has become a very popular area for the hobby.
