Welcome to Thunder Ridge Ski Area, Family Skiing....Only Minutes Away! We're so close you won't hear one, "Are we there yet?" Located in the rolling hills of Patterson, New York, we are just 20 minutes from Danbury, CT, 35 minutes from White Plains and only 60 minutes from New York City! Ride the Metro-North Ski Train and catch our free shuttle from the Patterson train station!
Skiing is a lifetime sport and we welcome all levels and ages, from beginner to expert, tiny tots to Senior Citizens! We have 30 trails, 3 chairlifts, and 4 magic carpets with slow and gentle slopes to meet the needs of the newest skiers and snowboarders and advanced trails for the daring and adventurous! Many of those experienced skiers and snowboarders on the slopes today were beginners just a short time ago. For the more competitive skiers, we offer racing for ages 6 through 19. At Thunder Ridge, our ski school is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of skiing to new "slopesters" and fine tuning the skills of the intermediate and advanced skiers. No matter what your age or ability, we'll make it a Thunderous and memorable day for you and your family.
Heck no, we make it snow! That's the motto of our dedicated snowmakers! Thunder Ridge doesn't wait for the first snowfall of the year. We make our own snow over the entire mountain. With our new state of the art snow making system we can cover over 100 acres with beautiful white, soft powder. Thunder Ridge is maintained by tower-mounted and fan snow cannons that work in harmony with our air and water system. Our groomer fleet keeps the snow in super condition for your skiing and snowboarding enjoyment!
When you're ready for a break from all this winter fun or simply want to watch the thrills and spills, come inside our spacious lodge, relax and enjoy the panoramic view from our lounge or glass atrium that overlooks the mountain base and beginner slope. Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or a bowl of homemade soup or try one of our daily specials in our full service cafeteria! Babysitting is also available in our glass enclosed nursery located right inside the Lodge.
