Tinnell Memorial Sports Park

The Story

Tinnell Memorial Sports Park is a skateboard and bmx park being built in beautiful Lake Havasu City, Arizona. It will be Arizona’s largest skate/bmx park at around 40,000 sq ft. It will be located across from the Aquatic Center. The park is being built in memory of Patrick Tinnell, a local bmx enthusiast who gave his life for his country in Iraq in April 2006. Additionally, the park will also honor Colin Sasseen, a 14 year old Lake Havasu native who lost his life doing what he loved…skateboarding. We have contracted with some huge names for the design and build.
California Skate Parks is going to do the construction, and award winning park and x-games designer, Brian Harper, engineered a stunning park for us.We need about $1,000,000.00 to make this dream happen and so far we have about 1/3 of that. So take a look at the site, see what’s new, get involved, donate — be a part of something worthwhile for our community. The City of Lake Havasu does see a need for this park and approached us with a proposal to move it to the Rotary Park Bowl location, and now what we are hearing is build the park. Just don’t build it here in the bowl. What it comes down to is our community sees a need for this park. So let’s build the park… Let’s use this energy with its pros and cons to ensure the park gets built like so many other cities throughout the world. Let’s use these pros and cons to ensure we have a successful skatepark. This park will not just serve a select group like the skaters, but will also accommodate, BMX, scooters, and inline skaters. It will serve as a safe venue for our youth to socialize. Let’s not forget the sacrifice that Spec. Patrick Tinnell made, and that this park was his dream for the Youth of our community.
