The Top O’ Texas Rodeo is held each year in August, with the Kid Pony Show and the Junior Rodeo being held within a few weeks earlier.

General Information

The Top O’ Texas Rodeo Association was formed in 1945 by a group of enterprising Pampa businessmen, and has a long history as both a pro and amateur rodeo.

The Top O’ Texas Rodeo has been held annually ever since except for 1970 when a tornado hit the arena, and 1971 due to an outbreak of Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis which quarantined the livestock in the panhandle.

The Kid Pony Show also started in 1945, and continues today to give the younger cowboys and cowgirls a change to develop their rodeo skills.

Numerous famous personalities have helped give the Top O’ Texas Rodeo it’s name. A few of these great performers include Monte Hale, Smiley Burnett, the Light Crust Dough Boys, Tex Ritter, Judy Lynn, Molly Bee, Reba McEntire, Susie Luchsinger, Red Steagall, Vern Gosdin, Cooder Graw, Ty Murray, Tuff Hedeman, Larry Mahan, the Pikes Peak Rangerettes and the Santa Rosa Palomino Riding Club.

Thank you for your interest in the Top O’ Texas Rodeo, and we look forward to seeing you at our next event!
