The Kimmswick Apple Butter Festival is fun for the entire family! It is held each year on the last full weekend of October. It goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The Kimmswick Apple Butter Festival is the largest celebration Kimmswick has each year, hosting over 500 vendors, multiple live entertainment performers, and attracting over 100,00 visitors over the course of 2 days! In addition to the vendors and live entertainment, the City of Kimmswick park will be open to children. There will also be a miniature train, face painting, and jump houses for the kiddos to enjoy!
To kick off the weekend, the Kimmswick Historical Society begins preparing their apples on Friday. On the morning of the festival, they fill their kettles with apples, light the wood burning fire, and began cooking the apples by stirring continuously for up to 8 hours until the apple butter spread is thick and fragrant. The apple butter is then placed in jars for sale.
