Start off the New Year on the right foot by joining us for our First Day Hike, pups included!

Welcome in 2025 in this nationwide initiative to get outside and take a hike!

As a part of our First Day Hike programming for the day, we are offering a ranger-led dog hike with Sheldon Lake's very own Bark Ranger.

What to expect: A fun morning walk on the Prairie Trail. Trails are wooden boardwalks and crushed granite gravel paths. Parking lots are smooth and paved. Dogs must be leashed in order to participate. After you have completed your dog hike with the group, visit a ranger in the Pond Pavilion to log your miles hiked, snap some photos and take home some First Day Hike goodies.

Bring: 6-ft. leash and bags for your pet's waste.

Participants will need to pre-register by emailing  [email protected] or calling (281) 456-2800, x232. Spots are limited.

Where: Meet at the Pond Pavilion at the start time. Parking nearby.
