Kick off the new year with a First Day Hike at Ash Hollow State Historical Park!

Meet at the Overlook Trailhead parking lot on the West side of HWY 26 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time. The hike offers a sweeping and scenic view of the North Platte River Valley. This hike is approximately one mile and has some steep inclines to the top of the hill. It flattens off to nice easy walking trail after that.

Following the hike, guests are invited back to the Visitor Center for a potluck soup luncheon starting at 11:30 a.m. Mountain Time. Please feel free to bring a soup, side dish or appetizer to share. Tableware is provided. You may drop off your potluck items prior to the hike at the Visitors Center.

Please bring a personal water bottle, appropriate shoes and clothing, and cameras or binoculars if you so wish.  Dogs are welcome on a six-foot leash.

A valid 2025 park permit is required for entry and can be purchased at the park.
