First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.
Location: Meet at Karen Bakerville-Smith Memorial Trail by the Historic Schoolhouse.
Parking: Parking is free. Use the Historic Schoolhouse parking lot.
What to Expect: Easy .6 mile loop suitable for families. On our hike we will explore what there is to eat around here and let's go shopping!
Length of Hike: 0.6 mile, 1 hours
Preparation: No dogs allowed on the trail. We encourage you to use a wagon rather than a stroller as it will have an easier time on the rough terrain.
Special Instructions: Please prepare for inclement weather and dress in layers. Closed toed shoes with good tread are recommended as trail may be muddy.
Ages: All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
