Start off the New Year on the right, or left, foot. At 9 a.m., meet our rangers at Shelter #1 for a pre-hike energizer, to include coffee and hot chocolate. The hike will start at 9:30 a.m. and will follow Lakeshore Trail to the Northridge Overlook, a perfect spot for pictures and watching the wildlife. This guided hike is approximately one mile in total, over bumpy terrain with a few short inclines. We recommend sturdy, close-toed shoes, a reusable water bottle, and to dress for the weather. Guests are welcome to continue hiking Lakeshore Trail to the dam; however, rangers will return to Shelter #1 for a small campfire following the hike.
Registration is not required, and hikers of all ability and skill are welcome to join. For questions please contact the Park Office at (434) 248-6308, or email us at [email protected]. First Day Hike stickers will be available during the hike at Shelter #1 and then at the Park Office following the hike.
