Various Venues in Philadelphia

Schedule:

2:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m: Concilio’s Annual Hispanic Fiesta

This two-day festival, supported by PECO, unites people of all ages through food, dance, and music to celebrate Hispanic culture and heritage. New this year Philadelphia’s largest event of its kind will move to the John F. Kennedy Bridge at 20th and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Both days are jam packed with great performances, including legendary artist Joseph Fonseca, an icon of merengue music, and Huey Dunbar, one of the most prominent representatives of the history of salsa in all the Hispanic countries.

While you’re there, be sure to delve into cultural cuisine at the Oasis Waterfront Food Market supported by the Philadelphia International Airport and explore the many vendors and activations, including the Well-being on Wheels presented by Independence Blue Cross, featuring free health screenings, wellness information, and nutrition takeaways.

10:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m: Free Museum Days: Historic Strawberry Mansion

The largest of Fairmount Park’s historic villas, Historic Strawberry Mansion boasts an extensive collection of period furniture, art, and dolls. Exemplifying both Federal and Greek Revival architecture, the mansion was built for abolitionist Judge William Lewis and converted to a museum by the Women’s Committee of the 1926 Sesquicentennial. Visitors can expect a fascinating look into Philadelphia’s history of abolitionism, women’s civic organizing, and decorative arts excellence.

Historic Strawberry Mansion and the Committee of 1926 are pleased to announce a new special exhibit, opening April 20. "Framing Strawberry Mansion: A Philadelphia Landmark Through Artists’ Eyes, 1842-2024" aims to compile an overview of artistic depictions of the mansion featuring both new works and pieces pulled from the HSM archives. These depictions provide a lens through which to explore the evolution of aesthetic trends over the last two centuries of the mansion’s existence; the visible changes to the mansion itself; and the overlap between women’s artistic production and social organizing in Philadelphia history.

10:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m: Free Museum Days: Laurel Hill Mansion

Laurel Hill Mansion welcomes families for a fun filled day of crafting – colonial crafts of tin punching, whirligig and more. Guests will have an opportunity to try hand crafting guided by volunteer hosts and to take home a souvenir of their visit that they made. Supplies will be provided.
