El Penúltimo Cuplé

Once upon a time, in early 20th-century Spain, a group of women defied societal norms and took the stage adorned with jewels, hats, and feathers to champion cuplé—a genre considered lowbrow yet transformative for the history of art and music.

These women, judged by morality yet desired by men, became iconic figures, brave heroines, and international divas. El Penúltimo Cuplé tells the story of five legendary artists—La Chelito, La Fornarina, La Cachavera, Raquel Meller, and Amalia Molina—gathering for one final night to enchant their audience with hits like La Pulga and Polichinela. Beneath their seemingly lighthearted performances lies sharp social, economic, and political critique. On stage, they laugh, lament, and remind us of their struggles, fines, and trailblazing courage as women ahead of their time.

Cuplé lives on—more vibrant than ever. Welcome to a unique show: El Penúltimo Cuplé. (Daniel Blanco Parra)

Los Bailes Robados

Los Bailes Robados is inspired by the enigmatic dancing epidemics that once shook Europe, interpreted here as emblems of emancipation and resistance. In this artistic interpretation, the stage transforms into a sacralized space, invoking a ritual of rebellion to amplify the voices of the marginalized and oppressed. The dancing bodies, with a deep longing for freedom, become the vehicle for their own insurrection.

A choral creation imbued with political critique and social vindication. The dancers move across the stage, transitioning from the hysteria and frenzy of uncontrolled movement to dramatic stillness and harmony, emerging as masses connected to a single soul that gives rise to a new entity of rhythmic movements.

All of this is articulated through our own flamenco choreographic writing, conceived from the freedom of the avant-gardes, delving into the questioning of norms and codes across time and the relationship between the individual and society.
