FestivalSouth, the largest project of the Hattiesburg Concert Association (HCA), is an annual, multi-week festival presenting a variety of musical and other arts-related entertainment that aims to transcend social, cultural, and economic lines.

FestivalSouth is a multi-disciplinary arts celebration that primarily features exceptional performing and visual artists during the month of June in Hattiesburg, MS.

4:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Harmonious Layers: The Art of Collage and Sculpture

Opening Reception

Featuring sculpture by Mark Brown and collage by Rebekah Stark Johnson

This exhibit highlights the deep connection between Rebekah’s collages and Mark’s sculptural works, both of which are profoundly influenced by their passion for music. The similar color palettes used in their creations suggest a harmonious relationship between the two artists, reflecting a shared exploration of visual art and innovative material experimentation.

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm: Classics by Candlelight – Featuring Theresa Sanchez, piano

Step into an evening like no other, where music, ambiance, and artistry come together in a truly magical setting. Surrounded by hundreds of flickering candles, world-renowned musicians will perform two of classical music’s most cherished works: Dvoƙák’s vibrant Piano Quintet No. 2 and Schubert’s enchanting “Trout” Quintet. Festival favorite Theresa Sanchez is joined by Borislava Ilcheva and Alexander Ilcheva, violins, Ausra Jasineviciute, viola, Alexander Russakovsky, cello, and Taylor Hollyer(bass).

This is more than just a concert—it’s an intimate experience that immerses you in the music. The unique backstage setup allows for a whole new perspective and connection with the performers, while the candlelight creates a warm, dreamlike atmosphere.
