FestivalSouth, the largest project of the Hattiesburg Concert Association (HCA), is an annual, multi-week festival presenting a variety of musical and other arts-related entertainment that aims to transcend social, cultural, and economic lines.
FestivalSouth is a multi-disciplinary arts celebration that primarily features exceptional performing and visual artists during the month of June in Hattiesburg, MS.

10:00 am - 12:00 pm: A Smooth Cup of Jazz
FestivalFavorite Jacobi Daughrity presents a showcase of his vocal talents, featuring music by Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Samara Joy, and more to wake you up and celebrate Juneteenth. You’ve heard him in multiple FestivalFinales and Hub City Players musicals. Now experience him up close and personal in this special free event!
Born in Cleveland, MS, Daughrity began taking piano lessons at the age of 10 and has been singing and playing ever since. An instrument music education graduate of Southern Miss, he is currently the minister of music at Zion Chapel AME Church and praise and worship leader at Dominion and Power FLC. He shares his passions with students as Assistant Band Director at Hattiesburg High School, Head Band Director at N.R. Burger Middle School, and Choral Director at Hattiesburg STEAM Academy.

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm: Gritty City Bang Bang
You have to experience Gritty City Bang Bang! The brainchild of Jonathan Bass, this Memphis-based trio is spreading jammy goodness on buttery grooves while holding strong to the traditional ingredients of jazz and blues. They bring a fusion of original compositions and standards to the table at which all are welcome. Bass is a longtime Memphis musician who is an in-demand sideman, teacher, and leader of his own creative endeavors. He is joined by two Memphis-based musicians, Carl Caspersen, a first call, session bass player and Mike Assad, a household name for drummers who is on faculty at the University of Memphis, Rhodes College, and Visible Music College.
