Emerging Artists Theatre’s Spark Theatre Festival NYC will run from March 3 – 23, 2025, in New York City. Nearly 60 performances will be presented across three weeks, including plays, musicals, solo shows, dance, and more.

Festival Schedule:

2:00 PM - 3:15 PM: 4908 Awakenings

One woman’s journey through her life as she grapples with the trauma of growing up with her sister who has schizophrenia to encourage conversations for families & caregivers. Witnessing the family’s tenacity and resilience to create joy, hope, and love within their chronic grief is transformative. We’re not alone.

5:00 PM - 6:15 PM: Come Flower Come Flame

In this abstract, poetry driven play, J travels through her memories to connect with her younger self and encourage the transition from the frozen towards the flame: from loss into love, and from what grieving ‘ought to look like’ into a radical ownership of body, queerness, and spirit.

5:00 PM - 6:15 PM: Morph

MORPH, created by two good friends, explores the ways in which people who spend significant time together adopt the traits of those around them, both on an interpersonal level and a societal level. In MORPH, we search for the fine line between companionship, community, and loss of the self.

5:00 PM - 6:15 PM: Palpitations

Heartbeat, something we all share. Palpitations begins in isolation, as dancers navigate personal struggles. As the piece unfolds, it transforms, illustrating the profound shift that occurs when we find support in one another, highlighting the healing and strength born from connection and solidarity.

5:00 PM - 6:15 PM: Stagnant Pull

Stagnant Pull is an experimental duet exploring a trade-off of control, and the question of who is in power. This contemporary modern work tells a story of tension through contact and physical manipulation, and a smooth flow of push and pull.

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Swansong Follies

What does it mean to be 'Over the Rainbow' and have a sense of home as a queer person? Gloria Swansong asks a cast of NYC's best drag and burlesque artists just that, as she presents this salon-style cabaret.
