Emerging Artists Theatre’s Spark Theatre Festival NYC will run from March 3 – 23, 2025, in New York City. Nearly 60 performances will be presented across three weeks, including plays, musicals, solo shows, dance, and more.

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Closet, My Sanctuary

"Closet, My Sanctuary" considers what is means to simultaneously learn love in the context of religion and queerness. This dance theatre work is an autobiographical movement collage, designed to capture the harm and humor in attempting to make sense of such blatant contradictions. A trio of musicians supports a trio of dancers through the private experience of trying to negotiate with God.

"Cut" is the newest addition to my current movement research involving race, adoption, family, and community. Join us as we explore the ins and outs of Central Asian Folk and contemporary dance.

This dance theater exploration of Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas grapples with their complex artistic and political legacies and questions the concepts of genius and biographical accuracy. The script, score, and movement are derived from Stein and Toklas’s writings, contemporary and postmodern dance, and theatrical devising methods.

“Bound Between” offers a powerful exploration of having or lacking control, a concept that resonates universally. The three dancers navigate the fragile space between restraint and release, reflecting on the paradox of control and the freedom found within constraints.
