Schedule of Events:
9:00am - 12:00pm: Needle Felted Sea Creatures with Maureen Andrew at SAFA Schoolhouse
Create small sea creatures using the needle felting method. Optional: Students enrolled in Chris Toy's mobile/stabile workshop in the afternoon are encouraged to bring their creatures for a mixed media project.
9:00am - 12:00pm: Carving Chopsticks from Local, Salvaged Furniture Wood with Chris Toy at Winter Harbor Masonic Hall
Join us for a unique woodworking experience! Learn the art of carving and hand finishing chopsticks from exquisite salvaged wood sourced from Maine's finest furniture makers. We'll work with a variety of beautiful hardwoods like cherry, maple, tiger maple, oak, black walnut, and mahogany. Each participant will create at least two pairs – a set for everyday dining and a longer pair for cooking. No prior woodworking experience is necessary – all skill levels are welcome! Chris will have optional tools available for purchase.
1:00pm - 4:00pm: Mobiles and Stabiles with Chris Toy at Winter Harbor Masonic Hall
Making mobiles and stabiles with upcycled materials including, but not limited to driftwood, seashells, feathers, and recycled wire.
1:00pm - 5:00pm: Woodturning II with Mike Summerer - FULL at Summerer Studio
Continuation of introduction to the wood lathe with a focus on bowl turning. Students will leave with a completed bowl.
